I had the good fortune to be invited to Vienna by some colleges from Austria to evaluate their decisions and to give them further advice. I had not been in Vienna before so I hope that they didn’t have planned to tight a program for me the two days I was scheduled to be there.
The first day though was all work but we had an exquisite evening with wonderful wine and food in one of their favourite restaurants.
I arrived early in the morning and had time to check in at the hotel and go for a walk in town before I had to meet them in the office which was in the centre of the city.
The hotel was extremely nice and in a classic design, almost what I expected from a four star Vienna hotel.
After a long day of meetings they invited me to join them for dinner in the evening. I stayed together with them all evening and had the traditional Wiener schnitzel; which consists of a thin slice of veal coated in breadcrumbs and fried. As common here the dish was served with a lemon slice, lingonberry jam, potatoes, parsley and butter. For dessert we had the Apfelstrudel; the oblong strudel pastry jacket with an apple filling inside. The filling is made of grated apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins and bread crumbs.
The food was good and heavy but to lighten it up the served some fabulous Austrian wines which truly made my day.
