Sunshine's Bar and Grill

In 2006/2007 I lived in Nevis, a small Caribbean island. I did an internship for my study Sports, Management & Business. That was definitely the time when I fell in love with the Caribbean culture. I also visited the islands St. Martin, Anguilla and Dominica.
Great food at a great place
Sunshine's beach bar is amazing. What is better than enjoying delicious food, good drinks, sunning and cooling down in the warm Caribbean Sea with reggea as background music? Not much right? So all of this you will find at Sunshine's.
The food is really good and their lobster is famous for the taste and quality. Just like the Killer Bee rum punch they serve. Definitely have to try it if you go there. The recipe is a secret and after a few you're spinning around. Extremely strong for a rum punch...
I met Sunshine, the owner, a couple of times and he is nice man. His crew will do their best too, to give you a good time.
Music is nice and it is a cool place to hang out. The rich and famous staying over at Four Seasons Resort (200m at the same beach) like to hang out here. There are private table for the rich and famous. If they aren't there, the tables can be used by every one.
There is a little souvenir shop. Locals will hang out here too and try to sell you things or pull you to beach activities. Sometimes there is a guy with a monkey on a lease. Not too often fortunately.

The one and only club in Nevis
Nevis is a really small island and a long time ago there were many clubs to party. But after some hurricanes crashed up the whole island only one party place survived the bad weather.
This is now the one and only club in Nevis: Courtyard. Fridays and Saturdays are the nights to go and party. A dj will spin good music all night long. This is an open air club. Only the bar, bathrooms and dj place have a roof. With rainy weather, not much people will show up.
Though Nevisians are Caribbean people, they are shy to get on the dance floor when it's still empty. I, on the other hand, don't mind it at all. At least I have some space to dance. After midnight the place starts to fill up and every body is having a good time. At the small bar it's always cramped and you need some time to get a drink when it's busy. Drinks are not expensive. At the entrance two guys make sure homeless or drunk people don't get in. You have to pay to get in the place. Guys have to pay more money than girls. Sometimes Saturdays are girls night and than girls don't have to pay entrance at all.
Even the bathroom facilities are oke. Not spotless, but neither dirty.
The place is open as long as it's busy. Most of the time till 4am.
Sometimes there is live music.
Taxi's or night busses are waiting to bring you back to where you have to go. But that is expensive. Don't go walking down the streets. Nevisians drive crazy!!!
Since the island is so small I always caught a ride from some one I knew and always got home safe.
Best place to go to in the weekends.
Good food and karaoke at the beach
This bar/restaurant/karaoke place is owned by an English guy and a Nevisian woman. The place is pretty big and it can be very busy at dinner time. The kitchen crew know how to prepare good and delicious food. Especially the fish and the burgers are extremely tasty. The bar has some typical English liquor.
Music is relax. At Thursdays Double Deuce is the place to be. At Thursdays there are only two places where it's fun to be at Nevis: Double Deuce and Nisbet Plantation(see other review). The fun of Double Deuce is karaoke. I'm not really a fan of it and a chicken maybe too. I can't sing at all and so I don't sing alone. Never mind. Some of the people sang very well or just gave away a good show. So fun garranteed on Thursday. Place stays open until 1am or 2am. Depends on how busy it is.
The place is pretty privated because there are no other places close. You can walk into town from here or take a 15 minute beach hike to Chevies, Sunshine's and Four Seasons (see reviews).
Double Deuce
Crazy expensive amazing luxury resort
I was lucky to be able to stay one night for free in the most luxury resort I've ever been. I knew some people who stayed in this resort and after partying I stayed there for the night.
The bathroom is almost as large as the living room and bedroom. The bed is amazing big and so comfortable you wanna stay in it for the rest of the day. Every thing is very, very clean and the service is excellent.
All rooms have a great view on the beach and the ocean. A 18-hole golf court is at your doorstep. You will have great views if you go golfing for a few hours. Two different swimmingpools on the beach, where you can get diving lessons. Big restaurant and they serve all the food you can desire. If you stay in this hotel you don't need to leave the resort. At the beach you can do different water sports, as long as you bring money, money, money... Sunshine's Beach Bar & Grill is only 200m away. (See my other review).
If you wanna stay here, you need to be RICH RICHER AND MILLIONAIR... A couple of 100 dollars a night is cheap.... Can you believe that????
But it's beautiful and amazing.
Off course, this is the opinion of a backpacker... If you're really rich it's probably an ordinary resort... Many famous people from the US like to stay here for holiday. It's a quiet place and they won't be disturbed or harrashed by groupies and crazy people who want an autograph, picture or what ever else... I can imagine they like to stay at this small island Nevis in this resort.
