Boat trip

The Old Port

There are so many boat trips that are offered. I went on an afternoon trip that included a visit to the volcano, to the hot springs and then to view the sunset from close to Ia while having a buffet on board the ship.

After reaching the volcano island it was a 20 minute walk up to the main crater and summit from where the 360 degree panorama was spectacular. I took shots of the full 360 degrees but still need to assemble the panorama... There is not much volcanic activity, just some fumaroles with a characteristic smell of sulphur.

We then went to some hot springs along the shores of the island. Shortly after we arrived , 3 other boats joined us and anchored one next to another. There was a wonderful atmosphere, with music, people diving and swimming to the springs...

Most boats were packed, strangely ours was not. I was with a small group of 10 people who just happened to be all Italian. It was a very friendly cruise.

As expected the sunset was gorgeous.
