I have now been working more than 3 years in the lovely city of Brussels and I have the last 18 months had the fortune of living here full time. One of the first things I have become to understand is why expats don't want to leave again. When I arrived I had a goal of walking the streets of Brussels and driving the roads of Belgium. One of my goals here is to visit all large cities in Belgium and afterwards know a lot about Belgium.

A strawberry capital!

There was a large amount of wild white geese making a lot of noise

One my drive around in Belgium I found yet another little nice city Wépion. The city is located only 8 km south of Namur along the Meuse. The drive along the Meuse is very beautiful – I will have to get back when the leafs are back on the trees.

I have later found out that Wépion is the Belgian capital of the strawberry. The strawberry has been cultivated there for more than 150 years because Wépion benefits from a micro-climate, sun-exposed plantations on west sloping ground and has a perfect ground for this type of culture. For all you beer lovers the city is also known for a strawberry beer under the brand name La Wépionnaise.

It is a very calm city not much is going on but you will find a lot of people walking along the river even when it is raining like it was today. One of the characteristic of the city is the many nice houses of which many looks like small castles .
