Every time my son is here we try to set a new objective for our visits of the different Belgian cities. This time the choice fell on Neufchâteau close to country Luxembourg in the region of Belgium called Luxembourg. Well it sounds more difficult than it is.
We left Brussels in wonderful sun and headed for Namur which is on the way and would give us the direction. Neufchateau is a small city some further 90 km from Namur. The city of Neufchâteau is situated at the heart of the Ardennes.
Neufchâteau has many natural treasures on offer and the nature is the main thing. The city itself is not that big but from the bottom of the valley or the lake it stands out better. In the Anlier forest you might be lucky enough to hear the call of a stag in the green valleys with its cascading rivers full of fish.
The region is perfect for exploring with its air of wilderness and mystery. In contrast with the city, the Valley of the Lake is perfect for leisure activities and relaxation.
We stayed not that long in the city but drove around the city on some beautiful forest roads that will be much more impressing in 2 months when the leafs get back on the trees.Just outside of the city we decided to take something cold to drink before we went further. We stopped at La Ferme des Sanglochon (farm-bred boar) where I tasted a beer that I hadn’t seen before; Cuvee du Tcheste. This was a very fresh brown beer with sparkling bobbles.
