This Sunday I decided that I wanted to visit more of the area around Namur going beyond the city. When I left it was pretty dull weather in Brussels. I drove to the local market but didn’t feel like walking around there in the rain. I turned my car and drove towards Namur which is half of an hour drive south east of Brussels.
I crossed the Bridge over the Meuse and decided rather spontaneous that I would follow the Meuse upstream. My goal became Andenne 16 km north of Namur - which turned out to be a nice little city. The drive along the Meuse was nice. In the beginning when you leave Namur it reminds a lot of the southern part of the river. Nice house along the fabulous views. I reached Ardenne and I saw a sign that said Ciney. I only remembered Ciney from a beer and thought it could be nice to drive that way.
Driving along these narrow roads to Ciney a got inspired by the many beautiful stone houses I saw along the road, sometimes I just had to stop and admire the stone work. I just loved it and one of many houses I saw in Soree. Stone houses is the traditional way to build houses here and you see many types, many of them are today modernized in a good way that respects the past.
