We were driving towards Ravenstein when the GPS showed to drive straight and take the ferry. We all laughed in the crowded VOLVO S60 with 5 guys in; it was not enough that we were packed in the car; now we had to take a ferry. When we came close the ferry we laughed again; it was really tine and we all kept the smile on our faces because this is something that you quite seldom experience in Denmark.
Apparently there has for many hundreds of years been a ferry services between the provinces of Gelderland and North Brabant, and I was happy to see that something like this could survive in a modern society. It turns out that the small ferries throughout also much of the 20th century have been in the hands of the state and leased out to local handlers.
The price of a cross was pretty fair; I had to pay only 1.80 euro to cross with the car and the 5 guys we were inside. The trips was very short; less than 5 minutes but it made sure that we still had a smile on the other side.
