Today the neighbouring streets to Place Chatelain have been blocked in order to host the flea market of Ixelles. The happening is a yearly thing where every local has a possibility to get rid off all the non-needy stuff one can collect during the former year.

I have always been amazed by the magnitude of things people collect and actually try to sell at these markets. But never the less it is extremely popular; the streets are crowded with people and parking turns into wishful thinking.

What amazes me, now being here last year too, is that it is the same people trying to sell the same things as last year. Storage room must be cheap in Belgium.

Flea markets are in general very popular in Belgium and every week you almost find a quarter or a street in Brussels were it happens. In general if you drive around in the countryside on a Saturday or a Sunday they pop up in front of you because all villages has for sure one brocante (flea market) a year.

The ambiance is always good here in Brussels and some small shops use it to increase their turnover as well. You will also find all kinds of food here.
