I have now been working more than 3 years in the lovely city of Brussels and I have the last 18 months had the fortune of living here full time. One of the first things I have become to understand is why expats don't want to leave again. When I arrived I had a goal of walking the streets of Brussels and driving the roads of Belgium. One of my goals here is to visit all large cities in Belgium and afterwards know a lot about Belgium.
Bij Den Boer
On the Fish Market in Brussels you can find a lot of restaurants but one of the better ones is the "Bij den Boer" which is a restaurant specialized in fish. The fish market is located in the very heart of Brussels, on the « Vismet » not far from the place Sainte Catherine.

The restaurant is almost always full both for lunch and dinner - and for good a reason - the food here is just great. It is a classical old fashion restaurant with a lot of atmosphere, ambiance and tradition. The tables and chairs are old and gives a lot of cosiness to the place. The service is swift and friendly.

The restaurant has a lot of regulars and at lunchtime it can be pretty difficult to get a table without reservation.

This time I had the most wonderful "entre" consisting of fresh asparagus and some chopped eggs, followed by cod and no matter when I have always been satisfied with my meal there.

The one thing that you state when you are there is that you will be back.

Owners are Marnic Malaise & Geert Heyvaert and the cook is Eric Beretta
