Saint Boniface

Brussels Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

I have now been working for more than 2 years in this lovely city of Brussels. The last 9 month I had the fortune of living here full time. I have become to understand why expats dont wanna leave again. One of my goals here is to visit all large cities in Belgium and afterwards know a lot about Belgium. Living in the heart of Europe also gives me the possibility to visit many of the larger cities in the middle of Europe by car or by plane. The years I am here I will try to see a lot.
The heaven of Saint Boniface
This week I had to great luck visit a restaurant that had specialized in "Cuisine francaise de terroir" or the traditional french cuisine. The restaurant is situated in Ixelle at the wonderful square of Rue Saint Boniface - a little pearl of this part of town.

The restarant is a family run busines, with father in the kitchen, mom taking care of the customers and their daghter heling with the serving - it is also one of these places that take the luxury of having closed in the weekends:-).

The food was exellent if you are in to the tradional kitchen, and even if you are not! - the food can be desribed as heavy and you are sure to be full when you leave. They have a good wine card as well and the service was very friendly and very good in explaining the different possibilities.

This restaurant is a must if you want to taste some good food and have a nice evening - it is both a restarant where you can bring your friends, your partner or just be yourself with a good book. The area around the restaurant is great if you want to continue with a beer or whatever...:-)

I had "La veritable saucisse de Mortean accompané d´Aligot" and it was awesome.

In the summer or when it is hot you can sit outside in their garden. The restaurant has both a non-smoking and a smoking area.
