Just Ducky Tour of Pittsburgh, PA
The Just Ducky Tour starts and ends in Station Square on Pittsburgh's South Side. It's best to call ahead and reserve your seats because these tours fill up fast. It's a great way to see Pittsburgh and to hear about it's history. The fun thing about the tour is that the vehicle, which looks like a boat with wheels, goes on both land and water, so one minute you are cruising down the road, and then they take a turn and you are in the Allegheny River.
The tour starts in the south side, it's goes down through the upper part of the city, across the Roberto Clemente Bridge, and along the park on the North Shore, passed PNC Park and Heinz field, into the water, passed Carnegie Science center, then you proceed through the southern area of the city, through PPG Plaza, across the bridge, and back to Station Square. It's a fun time, the tour guides are really funny, and they even take volunteers to drive the boat while in the water.
If you are in the Pittsburgh area, definitely check it out.
The tour lasts about one hour, and it begins at Station Square, on the land. Throughout the trip, you will get to see Grant Street, William Penn Hotel, the Theater District, the North Shore including PNC Park, Heinz Field, and the Carnegie Science Center. From here your vehicle goes into the Allegheny River, and offers you amazing shots of the Pittsburgh skyline. While on the tour, you get to learn about facts and the history of Pittsburgh, and even a native Pittsburgher is bound to learn something new. You will be entertained with the great tour guides, very funny. Once you enter the water, they even take volunteers that want to drive the boat.
The tour begins and ends at Station Square, it's wheel chair accessible, and the boat is equipped with a canopy for our crazy weather. The seats are arranged in 2 rows, of 2 seats in each row. There is an open area at the back of the vehicle, that you can move to once you are in the water. This area is awesome for pictures. They let us stay back there after the water, for the rest of the tour. Not sure if they always do that. I think you can fit 8 people back there.
The tours operate daily April through October, and on the weekends only in November. The tour times are 10:30am, 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:30 pm, and 6:00 pm. I belive there are 3 boats that run, red, blue, and green. Tickets are $19 for adults, children 3-12 $15, and children under 2 are $5.00. Reservations are strongly recommended, seats fill fast. Changes and cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to you time, tickets must be picked up 30 minutes prior to your tour, and you pick them up at the Just Ducky ticket booth in Station Square by Hard Rock and Joe's Crab Shack.
If you are in the Pittsburgh area, check it out. It's a quacking good time.
