Smith Cabin Hot Springs
These hot springs are a bit tricky to get to, you have to ford the river which is only possible in fall. We did it with no problem in August. The springs are very hot, too hot to touch. The pools are right on the rivers edge for the needed river water to cool the spring water. These springs are work to enjoy, constant stirring to get a good temperature. The pool is quite shallow too. But a nice break from driving and worth the stop.
If you head over to enjoy these great springs, please do your part to keep it cleaner than when you got there! Bring a trash bag just in case, thanks!
Getting there:
From Atlanta take the Middle Fork Road (268) about 34 miles downstream (.2 miles past Loftus). You’ll pass over a bridge and then it’s just .7 miles to the springs. Just park there on the road and look for the springs across the river.

Sheep Creek Bridge Hot Springs
These springs might be worth the stop…maybe. When we stopped in August there wasn’t much to offer. The springs trickle down to a slimy pool to hot to bear…that is if you could handle the slim. Then the over flow falls down the hillside into the river. Apparently some die hard soakers dig out and build a pool down near the water, but from the looks of it….it would be a crappy pool.

Getting there:
From Atlanta take the Middle Fork Road (268) about 38 miles downstream to a bridge at mile post 30 where the road crosses the river. Park at the first turnout and follow a trail just right of the trinity lakes trail head.
