On a beautiful wintermorning we arrived by bus in Val Thorens. It was snowing a little bit and we started to unpack and settle in our hotel . it is not a very luxurious hotel, but you get a bed, running hot water, television, a kitchen, refrigirator and it's a 1 minut walk to the biggest skiing resort in Europe :D:D!!
After arrival we decided it was time for a well deserved breakfast and a small, self arranged, tour of the town. Val Thoresn is not very big but it offers so much! Be aware that it's not very cheap and food costs more because you are on a mountain (2300 m) so you can't really drive down to a grocerie store. BUT... all of the days we spend skiing and snowboarding were very beautiful and every view is spectacular and every ride is amazing.
As you can see on the pictures it was very beatiful this year. We made a long trip past Les menuires, Meribel Mottaret, Meribel , Courchevel and back to Val Thorens which is doable for advanced boarders in one day. It's a very beautiful trip and you don't have to buy anything special. If you buy a ski-ticket for the complete area of Les trois Vallées you can go to all of the above and ski down beatiful slopes which are blue, red and black (the black slopes ROCK!).
As for the nightlife... INCREDIBLE! Lots of Dutch and English bar's, fun restaurants and as a highlight a big underground club in the center of town. So if you want to have the time of your life and have some money put aside for the wintermonths... this a smart choice :).
