Locrum island

Early this morning we went back to Dubrovniks old city and bought ourselfs a ticket for a boat trip to Locrum. This is a small island before the Dubrovnik coast (there are many, and most of them can be visited). Our boat is called Zrinski. I have no idea what that means... We sailed near the coast of Locrum and than moored at a pier. The island is tiny so we could sea a lot of it just walking around.

The nature by itself was wonderful (lots of peacocks too), and apart from that there where also lots of  ruins and the old cathedral to be visited. At the top of the island (the climb was realy tuff under the open sky... It was noon and the sun burned like crazy) lies Fort Royal.

The view from up here was magnificent!

Some further down in the forest we found a small lake with deep blue (salt) water, full of fish and surrounded by high, steep rocks. Behind them lay the sea and a tunnel-like cave brought the water in this little basin. The passage was mainly underwater though, so we couldn't swim through it. But because of the closed area the water was a lot saltier than in the open sea, and floating around in it was surprisingly easy. There were some other people around who had also discovered this beautiful spot, but yet it remained extremely quite. We stayed here for hours just wondering around, diving and picnicking.

During our diner at the hotel plaza that night we were accompanied by some six cats, which of course all hoped for a little treat. We didn't notice them the first day, but they kept coming back every night...
