We went to Hammamet Yasmine in October. This is a very nice area. It might be new and not authentic but still very nice.

Oktober and november in Hammamet Yasmine Tunisia

tunis

In oktober i was in Tunisia, and in november i was back with my mother. In a very few days i had to show her arround. We hardly had a moment to sit down.

We went to Tunis, Sidi bou Said, Nabeul, Sousse and of course the old Hammamet. The capital city of tunisia is Tunis. Tunis is a very big city with an huge medina called the Bab-el-Bahar. You get lost very easy in it. At the moment almost 693.000 people are living in Tunis. In the middle of the souk you can find the mosque. If you have the possiblity you have to visit a building and have a nice view over the city. And that is not so difficult because there are people walking, willing to show you around. And of course they will have money for it!! Be aware of that.

all kinds of pottery
It happend to us also. We walked a long way with a guy who brought us to a real nice building. We went upstairs and we walked into a carpet store, and they are trying to persuade you to buy a carpet. I thought so!!!! But upstairs we had a real nice view over Tunis. After taking some pictures the guy took us somewhere else. This time it was a perfume store. They gave us an demonstration of all kinds of perfume. But unfortunately for the man, we did not like the smell of those perfume, so we did not bought one single bottle of perfume.

Nabeul is very famous of it pottery. In all kinds of shapes and colors. This is a very beautiful sight. There is one thing you should think of, it is not first quality pottery, so check out what you want to buy!  The market in Nabeul is very large, if you think you have seen it all, cross the street and you will find another market. This is more for the local people. But i like that more, because here you see what the people sell and buy.

good solid hotel with every luxury you need
I have been in this hotel three times. It is very big, but everything you need is available. The food is not very bad (hi hi) The rooms are clean (for tunesian standard yes) The people are friendly. This hotel is located close to the new medina in Hammamet Yasmine. What needs attention is the fact the hotel is situated along a very busy road. That is not a problem, but you have to cross the street to go to the beach. And even if there is not much traffic, it is still dangerous. Because Tunesian people like to drive like insanity. It is a safe area. Also the hotel, no local tunisian is allowed to come into the hotel. This hotel is visited mainly by French, Italian and Spanish people. The music they are playing in the hotel is mostly French. The first time we visited the hotel was in march. We heard christmas songs!!! But if you want a good quality hotel i can recommend it. They say it is a 5star hotel, but to dutch standard it is between 3 and 4.
