Flying over the amazon

Living and working in a developing country like Peru presents amazing opportunities for social involvement. This is but a sample of the amazing experiences gained through even the smallest activities. Merry Christmas 2006 everybody!

Flying over the amazon

My greatest discovery of this trip was that a helicopter is the ideal way to really appreciate the beauty of the amazon rainforest. Since it is completely level for hundreds of miles with hardly any hills at all it is almost impossible to see much from the ground. And the airliners usually fly too high, above the usual low rainclouds which cover up most of the view. Our helicopter flying at no more than 300 meters above tree level provided the ideal platform to appreciate the beauty of the place! Too bad there are no helicopters available for tourists anywhere in the peruvian rainforest. But the oil company execs and workers to get to enjoy awesome views every single day!

pretty! i was hoping we'd catch a glipse of it by air when we were flying in/out, but our flights were always too late.
