This morning I took Adam to my favorite coffee place - located in the grocery store Rey, of all places. Then we took a walk along Via Argentina, a nice street with shops and a green meridian. We did a bit of shopping for jeans and shirts. I wound up with an interesting embroidered shirt; Adam with a knit shirt.
In the afternoon, we took a taxi to Casco Viejo for another walk. This is the up-and-coming (or really, under-restoration) old town I wrote about earlier.
We continued our walk beyond Casco Viejo and wound up on a pedestrian-only street heavy with street vendors and local shops. This seemed very autentico, a mix between outdoor mall, venice beach, and flea market. Definitely not many gringos here!
Eventually we found a cab and headed back to our condo to get cleaned up for a big Friday night out.
Dayana and I went to a very nice (but very expensive) steak house in the Hotel Veneto complex. Since we were running late, and due to meet up with the other four by 11pm, we rushed through dinner. The food was pretty good (she had surf and turf, and I had mixed bbq) but since we rushed, we probably didn´t enjoy it as much as we should have.
We met up with the gang at Voila (They had tried to get into Fiesta disco, also in Hotel Veneto complex, but they said the line was way too long). Voila once again was off the hook - great crowd, great effects, but louder than hell. At this point, around midnight, I was dead tired. I think the last day or two had finally caught up with me. So I called it an early night.
Best to save up my energy for Saturday night. Stay tuned.
