Soup with mountainwater
As we never went to Austria on for example wintersport, this was our chance to see real mountains and snow! We asked the lovely girl from the Youthotel where we could found some good mountains and drove to Bad Gastein
. Normally a place filled with drunken youth and skiing pro's. This time of the year the city is a ghost town filled with grandmas and grandpas, and some locals. On our heigth map there should be a mountain of 3 kilometers high at Sport Gastein, a place with a skilift and a Bierstube, where we could take a warm choco. The rain stopped, Bear Grills, our spiritual leader, said to us: "go up the mountains, walk as thou has never walked before, strengle, fall, and get up, and make advantage of what nature gives you!"
There was a nice route made out of stones and roots from the trees.

We were already at 1500m heigth, and we would climb to approximate 2000m heigth. The difference between Holland, a country where the highest point is 3 meters from a homemade dike, and the regular heigth of Austria gave me the first signs of highth sickness. My head hurt like someone used a vice to screw my head together. Paracetamol worked and up we went. In our rucksack we had a pan, a gasburner, and... cupasoup ! We followed the trail of the route, found a waterfall, took the water and made soup on the high point of the mountain. best soup I ever had!
As camping on a hill 20% with waterfalls on the left and right side of you wasnt something we always dreamed of, we went luxurious again, and took a small family hotel. We had diner at the restaurant of the trainstation :D And went to the city of Bad Gastein, which lays in a valley. If you see a house 5 meters in front of you, that would automaticly mean that you should take the stairs to go down another 50 meters. At the centerpoint is a HUGE waterfall with enormous powers. (there are some videos on youtube) Finally we found a bar which was open. We drank a lot, talked with some local girls untill we couldnt walk straight. With our hotel on the upper side of the hill and the bar on the lower side of the hill, this trip took longer then the mountain walk we had at afternoon :D
