Sydney Harbour Bridge 75th Birthday Celebrations

Crossing 'Our Bridge'
It was the 75th birthday of Sydney Harbour Bridge and celebrations were planned throughout the day. We were told that to get onto the bridge itself that you would have to register first online. We chanced it though, and breezed on to the 'Our Bridge Walk.' On the bridge there was music played, supposed to represent the Bridge throughout the 75 years of its history, including the Star Wars and Neighbours themes and, believe it or not, Skippy The Bush Kangaroo and Tie Me Kangaroo Down. It didn't really feel like we should be there, but felt fun nonetheless. Once on the other side, we sat and had lunch while watching the free entertainment in the Rocks area of the city - some jazz bands etc. Then down in Darling Harbour there were parties going on, before we headed back to the Circular Quay area where the bars and restaurants had got going and most of Port Jackson was lit-up spectacularly.

Reminded me of being a student again, which is no bad thing. Good common room and free internet, and cereal for breakfast which is a welcome change.
