Thank Heavens For A Bed

My hotel room in Kota Kinablu - man I loved that bed!
Thankfully the mountain was over. My bones ached, my backside was sore (I fell over a lot) and I could barely stand. Luckily we were booked to stay in the four star Beverly Hotel in Kota Kinabalu. We drove back from the mountain, avoiding drunk drivers, rivers of rain and losing our guide's car (quite often due to his insane speed) and arrived in KK by evening. We walked in to the plush, clean, cool lobby and my spirits lifted slightly at the thought of a warm, soft bed and best of all, a long, hot bath.

In the end I went one better - having both a bath and a shower. I can honestly say, that drinking tea, eating a pot noodle and laying in a hot bath might be decadent, but after climbing a mountain it's no more than I deserved! Possibly one of the best feelings I have ever felt!

Later that night we all went out for some drinks and food in KK. After several jugs of lager, I was too sozzled to notice the pain in my legs, though I was aware I was walking like a ninety year old man. Sitting back with a beer, relaxing and most importantly not moving too much was fantastic.

The next day we rose quite early, had a great hotel breakfast before heading to Krazy Ken's Adventure Park for some chilling out or, indeed, quad biking and climbing for those with energy. I chilled, chilled good. We were then ready to head to Pulau Tiga, our own desert island.
