How we did it
August 6, 2008
The 1st step for the 3 of us to go to Crimea was a day-long isolation
in a train in the economy-class car. But I'm sure you have little
notion of what an economy car is here. It's an open compartment with 4
people and 2 sleeping berths on the opposite side. So there are people
all over! Going to the WC, you're sure to hit feet hanging down from
the upper bunk, or just rub his/her socks when there are uneven rails.
You'd better not talk to a friend after 10 p.m. because the majority
want to sleep. It's hard for males to stretch out and go to sleep - the
berths are 180cm long... But the atmosphere in such a car was, in our
case, very cordial. It's easy to make new friends without trying - you
just talk to your neighbours! Time does fly here.
..
Ok. Here we came! 1 more hour in taxi and we arrived to Sudak town and started looking for banners like "housing" or "accomodation by the sea" Supply definitely exceeded demand. So we quickly found our home. New building, fresh room for $15 a person 7min far from the sea.
As soon as we dropped our bags down the floor we rapidly turned our clothes into beach-style mode and went swimming! Yahoo! There were big waves and they provided fun to anyone who enjoy them like me. In the evening we went exploring the embankment which in coastal towns like Sudak contains all the amusement, food and disco sourses. Walking wears out and we concluded our 1st day in Tartar restaurant with red wine and kebab. By the way Crimea is famous for it's wines. There are species that can compete with say... French ones.
We filled our 2nd day with lying on the beach and playing cards in our courtyard. The night was more interesting. All of us disired a girl. Very carefully we observed crowds of passing by walkers estimating, discussing cute ones; criticizing or bantering other kinds of girls. After a while we stoped by a cafe to grab a bite. At the table beside 3 girls were sitting, sluggishly chewing their meals. And here was my surprise! As only I offered friends to warm up and pick them up, buddies had the wind up and became producing lame exuses like "they seem to have boyfriends , They will surely reject us" etc. Even beer was not a help((( Then I desided to limber up on my own. But as soon as I got up ready to walk over to the girls my friends hastily abandoned their chairs and tipped me they would expect me right at the exit)))... My chat up line was not original, I just offered them to have a walk along the coast after their supper with a company of 3 cheerful young men) but that was quite enough. They were not so cute to expect sophisticated ice-breaking. So they agreed) And leading them to the exit I put on triumphal air and gifted my guys with a little disdainful smile like that ;) Warming up was good. We let our tongues publish yada-yada, fine-tuned eyes to express emotions through them and so on. To cut it short it was a start!
On the days on we got acquainted to many girls though it was not so inflammatory as I wanted. Buddies let me down)) with their lackadaisical behaviour. No rivals in the company means no interest... Visiting discos, foam-paries soaking cocktails, beer and other alcohols lying on the beach, catching up we wasted our time.
Finally I got bothered with it and on the last day of stay I moved to Yalta feeling itchy to travel actively. 3 hours in bus and I arrived. Yalta can be called a capital city among neighboring coastal towns. It's vast in comparison with Sudak. On arriving I made friends with an elderly woman assisting her to carry her grandchild into the trolley. In exchange she told me a quick guide-story about the city. Advised where it's preferable to go. Then I took a ferry to sail to see famous Lastochkino gnezdo (Swallow nest) castle. When I returned I run into a man hiring out mopeds! Feet tired, desiring some sitting I happily rented honda 49'9 for 1,5 hour and went cruising the city with its help. I felt elation riding that little bike. It was so convenient. I've seen so much in that 1,5 hour that I was full with impressions of Yalta for that day. After giving back my vehicle I had a tea break and in the end boarded a bus to Sudak. My friends were waiting for me going for a final walk. We all were in festive mood and decided to paint the town red that night. We really tried to!!! But for me the most impressive thing was that I picked up a girl that studied with me in the same institute only a year senior! I guess in Sudak I was segregated from anything or anyone from Moscow. lol
