As early as 1922 the Chief Inspector of The Inspectorate of Ancient Monuments and Buildings (Riksantikvaren) became interested in Røros. A recommendation was made to place preservation orders on 8 of the buildings and 20 other buildings should be further evaluated.

We did it again

As last year we had our annual cousin meeting at Røros.

Unfortunately three of the cousins were not able to travel to Røros.

But this year we will be presented to a “new” cousin, meaning just one of us had met here before.  Why? We didn`t know she existed.

She is the daughter of our grandfather`s  son Oscar before he married our grandmother.

I`m looking forward meeting her and getting to know her.

Overnight at Vertshuset Røros and find yourself literally in the midst of cultural treasure.
At Verthuset Røros you find yourself literally in the midst of cultural treasure. The mining town of Røros is one of Europe’s oldest wooden-house towns and one of the few mining towns in the world to be included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

But the mountain town of Røros is more than a cultural treasure. It is a vibrant town where people live and work right in the centre of one of the world’s cultural heritage sites.

The Vertshus consists of The Krog Brothers Textile Factory and Rammegården.

The Krog Brothers Textiles Factory
This unique overnight stop is this year’s latest tourist attraction in Røros. The building dates back to 1914 and houses super-modern rooms, offering a high level of comfort, which may be combined to form larger apartments. The rooms have high ceilings and a light and airy atmosphere. The history of the factory and of Røros itself is the inspiration behind the interior decor and furnishings. The interplay between past and present guarantees a truly unique experience!

Sweet cakes, sweet cakes,....oh my sweet cakes
One of our second cousins owns a bakery at Røros; Trygstad Bakery.
My grandfathers sisters husband established the bakery in 1906.

Our second cousin made us a very nice decorated cake with cream and marzipan to bring back to our hotel.

Of cause we cousins had to visit him. We brought him flowers to celebrate his latest grandchild’s birth some days ago.

The bakery is in one of the small wooden houses in the centre of Røros.
Oh my counters in the bakery were filled with sweet, delicious cakes.

So we had to sit down and have a cup of coffee and some pieces of cake.
I`ll let my photos speak for them selves.
He made it for us
