Wow...if this sushi was a man, I'd make love to it!

Hard to believe Tuesday was already here and it's time for Melanie to head back to Vegas! I am still working on my master plan to get her to move to Northern California though! HA HA HA. With all our Guy Fieri food trips, we hadn't had time to stop for sushi so I wanted to take her to my favorite sushi place here in town before we headed back to San Francisco. I hurried to get some work done and Melanie got all packed and it was time to take a few last minute photos before we go to lunch. We had been waiting to go cow tipping for John (JPChoi) so it's now or never before Melanie heads back. And when you don't have access to a real cow...IMPROVISE! :D Yes, fortunately there is at least one cow I am aware of in Sacramento.
We then headed out to sushi at my favorite place, Akebono II (review attached to my Northern CA blog) and Melanie was in heaven. They happened to have sock eye and king salmon on the menu today. Whoo Hoo! We ordered escalor (super white tuna), pink snapper, amberjack, and Mel had hamachi and the various salmon nigiri. When she ate the sock eye salmon, she started moaning and was in heaven. She told Will, our sushi chef, "If this was a man, I'd make love to it". HA HA HA. Only Melanie! We each got a roll (don't remember what Melanie's was though) and mine was special from Will - no specific name. I also had Jimmy make Mel the yummy mint leaf concoction he does for us - he changed it up a bit since Mel doesn't like spicy and omg, it was awesome! Melanie admitted that this is the best sushi she's had.
Well, we were running against the wire on getting her to SFO on time and we had tossed around the idea of hitting Gunther's Ice Cream which had sugar free options and came highly recommended by Jeremy (vulindlela) so I was excited to try it. We got there and OMG, they not only had sugar free yogurt but had sugar free ice cream options! Mel was in heaven! If we weren't running so late, I was going to call Jeremy to share our excitement! Both Melanie and I got two scoops, mine just in a cup since I had to drive. I tried the strawberry cheesecake and black raspberry swirl. That was by far the most creamy and best ice cream ever! Melanie had both sugar free vanilla and prailine cream I think it was.
Kinda like we figured, we got to SFO late and Mel just missed her flight. Fortunately, she got right on the next one and managed to even land in Vegas before I got home the airport since traffic was awful! LOL!
Good times this trip! Can't wait for Mel's next visit so we can continue our Guy Fieri tour...so many things left to see and so many places left to eat! :-)
