Walking nearby the border of Burma
We started at 8am, really relaxed and a group of three people we were going about to make a two-day trekking. We were taking a look at the route which we were going to walk for two days. I thought it was amazing how close we would walk nearby the Burmese border. The guide asked for our physical conditions. I told him honestly that I've got the worst condition of mankind ever :-) in the hope he would take a relaxed route. ;-) After we left we stopped first at the police station, our names would be registrated because we would be far away for a two day walk. They had already a copy of the passports, received from the little cool booking office. Two day earlier I went to the little booking office to settle this trip. My co-travelers were an English couple, very friendly and full of jokes.
After the stop at the police station we drove further and stopped at a Thai Market to buy some fruit, vegetables, chicken and other nice stuf to make diner for the evening during the trekking. There were very exotic fruits and other stuf like fried insects to see. After shopping for a while we drove further. We stopped in Chiang Dao at a elephant trainings center. We walked on a wooden suspension bridge, hopping up and down :-) and reached a small stall. Here you could buy some banana and sugarcane and suddenly the most impressive elephants were strolling by. I just fed the biggest elephant, he had the most largest tusks you can imagine. All elephants liked the little snack and then walked further with the mamuts on their back for their bathing hour.
I was completely impressed, it's so beautiful seeing about 20 elephants taking a bath. The little elephants are so cute and nice to see. The most little elephants don't control their trunks very well. When showering themselves and the mamut their trunk is going all sides exact for the right direction. The elephant with the enormous tusks took one sip of the river and gave himself and his mamut an enormous shower. It was really fun to see and I just pressed the button of my camera at the right time. After bathing time the elephants showed what they could do. In former days they would work in the logging industries but nowadays they entertain the tourists. I don't know which one is better or it's better to have their freedom. After admiring the elephants we travelled further nearby the Burmese border.
I liked very much the way the landscape changed and it became quieter and the roads weren't tarmaced anymore. The villages became smaller and more nature was coming. We started at a little village to walk the trek and the before climbing the mountains in the north of Thailand the path became narrower. The guide showed us what kind of plants and crops were growing in this area. Then we headed for a steep climb. The first three hours we walked uphill and the forrest and the path would become even more narrower. We had to walk over tree trunks and we walked through a beautiful bamboo forest. After walking about 4,5 hours we arrived at one of the tops and had a breathtaking view.
