A trip into the past ...Childhood memories:)
It was a thursday morning and i had already made up my mind days before hand about this trip to Nes. I asked Liz if she wanted to come along and she did. No matter what the weather was like i wasn't going to sitt at home..
At 07:00 am i awoke from a good night sleep and had myself a little breakfast etc to make myself ready. It was raining but then again its been raining other days as well and in the end the sun came around, so there was no reason to think other wise this time either:) When i was in the car on my way to Liz i gave her a call and that was around 07:50 am. She was sleeping so she sounded a little tired hehe..We agreed that i would call her when i got closer to where she lived so she knew how much time she had left to get ready for.
..There were some traffic heading out of Oslo but at that time of day it always is unless its vacation time.I'm not sure when i exactly got to Liz's place in SKreia but i missed her drive way up to her house hahaha She was shouting stop on the phone but i hit the breaks too late..
On our way to Nes the rain kept on falling down but we weren't too worried about that. We finally arrived at Nes Church but since Liz was hungry we stopped by the local store first. You can imagine we got a few curious looks arriving in a car they hadn't seen in the area before. When entering the store heads turned and i guess it wasn't because we looked hot hahaha In places like this people are just curious and notice new people straight away. Its kind of funny cause last time i went there about 8 years ago i asked for directions and was lucky enough to meet the man who's parents had bought farmland off my grandfather for bulding a house.
I told him i was Ellen's daughter and he brought me to the Farm as well as visiting his mum. Then it was all the oh you look a little like your mum etc and bla bla bla hahaha THis time i just asked for direction from someone else and that we were looking for Fossum Gård as its called in Norwegian.Once we got to the farm the weather started to clear up and the sun came out. Lucky us :) THe weather was now beautiful and so was the temperatures. We walked around the Farm and peaked through the windows of the house. Went into the barn where we climed up the ladders to all 3 floors. It was quite strange for me to be there. I do have a few memories from my youth but i never was in the barn when i was young so this was actually my first time to see the barn.
Just sad to see it run down with broken windows. We walked around and since there are only 2 more houses close by the Farm the couple that came down in their car from the top house stopped and were a little curious about what we were doing there. I told her who i was and about my grandparents having lived here etc. She got very talkative and told me she was the daughter of those who bought the smaler house from my grandparents in 1979 so it was a nice and friendly conversation. After a few more rounds around the Farm we jumped into the car and thought about driving home since it takes about 3 hours to Oslo:) Once we got out of the alley and on to the road i saw there were a great deal of cars at my mums old neighbour, Morten. I said to Liz that we should just stop buy to see if he's home.
He's a real friendly man in his 50's. He recognized me as soon as i got out of the car and greeted us. He invited us for tea and cakes, so we sat down and emptied to whole cake tray. Later on his friend Berit came and she had bought some bread rolls and fed us some more hahaha I was so full i couldn't eat another thing:)Morten brought us down in the basement where he gave us 2 glasses of home made raspberry jam and 2 bottles of home made blackcurrant squash. It all tasted wonderful yummmi........
Finally after many hours we left to return to our own homes, but it had been a great day and i'll go back again...
