A little glimps of the past and good times....
8am Thursday morning.. a noise in the distance. What the h*** is that noise? Oh... darn, it's my cellphone. I jumped out of bed, still in a "coma" , answer the phone and says; hello in this typical still-in-your-sleep voice. lol... It was Gudny and she was on her way here.
This was the day it really was a good thing she live's about 2 hours drive from me... I sure needed the time to wake up and get ready. ;o)
She called again when she was getting closer, and we talked till she was to turn off to my place. I was standing in the kitchen window so that I could tell her when, but she (as usual) came so fast that she passed me and I was yelling STOP, STOP... haha. In her defence, it is real easy to miss the exit to my place, and I have even done it myself. LOL
We sat for a while, talked about nothing and everything, before we took off. It was raining, and we were both hoping it would clear up. As we drove past Gjøvik and came a bit further north, we could see that the sky was getting clearer. But still it was raining. Oh well, a little rain has never killed anyone, so I wasn't really caring that much.
We got to Nes Church and wanted to shoot some pics, but since I was hungry (skipped breakfast.. :o( ), we stopped at the local store to get something to eat. As we stopped infront of the store, we noticed people were looking at us. A "warning" to what waited us inside the store. In a small comunity like this, newcomers are easily noticed. So I guess we kinda stood out from the rest... hahaha
But what I find so different from larger places and especially big cities like Oslo, is that people are so much friendlier and more talkative in the rural areas.
It's really nice :o)
After getting something to eat, we ate in the car and the went to take some pictures of the Church. It's the Church where Gudny was baptised, and apparently her Mom climbed the roof of it in her childhood... (so now I know where you got it from, G...haha)
We continued on towards where her Grandfathers farm should be, and had to stop on the way to ask for directions. After a few wrong turns, we were there. And what a place it is... wide open spaces, a great view over lake Mjøsa, a HUGE house and a big, but worn down barn. The house had been fixed up, but the barn were not. No one has even lived there for the past 10 years.. what a shame!
We had a great time walking all over the property and especially inside the barn. There were some old farming tools and equipment and a real old wagon sitting on the second and third floor of the barn. I could almost sense how it most have been back in the days when the place were full of life. Grown up and kids running around, working the fields and with the animals and the kids playing in the hay. (not sure they did that, but I know I would have...lol)
After walking around, climbing old ladders and shooting lots of pics, we decided to call it the day. But as we started to drive, Gudny said that maybe we should see if Morten's home. Morten is an old neighbour of her family and also and ex co-worker of hers. There were lots of cars in his driveway, so we stopped by and sure enough he was home.
He is a very friendly, kind and hospitable man.
He offered us tea and cakes (which we ate all of.. hahaha) and later his friend Berit came and she made some breadrolls for us. Man, I was sooo full...
Morten also gave us 2 bottles of blackberry ade and 2 jars of Raspberry jam each. And it tasted absolutely delicous.. I really enjoyed my stay there, and wouldn't mind going back there some other time. :o)
At around 4pm, we had to head back. Gudny had to get me home first, then she had about 2 hours drive home to Oslo. As we got just passed Gjøvik, we noticed this nice rainbow so we stopped and shot some pics of it and also the view over Lake Mjøsa from this angel.
As we got closer to my place it started to rain.. and it was real heavy rain. We could barely see the road infront of the us, so when we stopped at my place we just said our goodbyes and thanks for today and I run inside. She continued on her way home...
It had been a great day with great company... :o))
