Pre dive trip exploring

So we had a full day and a half before we boarded the dive boat. So what to do on the big island. By the time we started to figure out what we might want to do, we found out it was too late to go to volcano's national park. We could have made it but everyone said it would be really busy and we would have to wait in traffic longer than the time we would spend in the park. So, now what. We finally decided on a plane tour around the island. We decided on the plane because it was much cheaper than the helicopter and there wasn't a wait. I think the plane tour ended up being better than the helicopter. We went around the whole island and had plenty of view of the volcano.
The other half day we had we just piled into the SUV we rented and took off with no idea where we were going to go. It was pretty much just a trip to do something since we didn't have the whole day to plan something. We picked up some more of our group in the afternoon and then it was time to board the dive boat.
