A trip from Nairobi to Cape Town
WorldAfricaKenyaNairobi

Kenya

In which country are we?

INTRO

This journey started in Nairobi on October 11th 2008 and led through the countries of Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South-Africa ending in Cape Town.

Deze reis begon op 11 oktober 2008 in Nairobi en eindigde, na rondzwervingen door 7 landen, in Kaapstad.....

Flight KL565 leaves shortly after 10:15 from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport  for a 8,5 hours trip to Nairobi, Kenya. At the airport we meet our 12 fellow travelers. A small bus leads us through chaotic streets of Nairobi to the pretty basic hotel Comfort Inn.

Comfort?
Hotel Comfort Inn is situated opposite Jeevanjee gardens in the north of the centre of Nairobi. Don´t think you have a view on Central Park or Bois de Boulogne. Like the garden, the hotel is a bit down.
When you enter the hotel a small, basic wooden reception in a small hall welcomes the visitor. For change of cash you must wait for the cashier, who might be one floor up at the restaurant. The restaurant doesn´t deserve a star, but is okay and saves you from starvation.
To get to your room you must use the stairway, for the elevator is often out of order. The problem is that each floor is closed behind a fence and you need the concierge to get higher than the restaurant floor.
The room I had was at the back of the hotel in a corner. A bouble bed with muscito net dominates the room, not much place for other things.
The bathroom is comfortable with a shower (hot water available) and a toilet with view across the street. The area is not so poshy and in the evening you can enjoy the loud music of the bars. No radio needed!
