Road trip to Beaufort, NC

I have spent the last two weeks on a road trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It took about 6 hours to drive from Beaufort, SC and arrive in Beaufort, NC. It’s spelled the same but pronounced totally different. The whole reason for this road trip was to visit some sailing friends that had just pulled into town. As soon as I got out of the car the smiles and hugs started to fly. It was good to see friends.
While I was in town we went out for a great dinner at a place called Scottish Harbor. The mood was perfect and the staff was kind to a bunch of drunk sailors. During the next few days we worked on boat projects, played mini-golf, went surfing, spent a day on a farm with a pond, a Track Hoe and 60 foot of rope. Luck nobody got hurt!
Then, during my last weekend there the town had the Pirate Invasion Festival. Lots of boats, pirates and cannons were all over town. Saturday night was the Pirates Ball and proper dress was mandatory. It was fun to see and hear people try to pull of their best act of being a swashbuckler.
As all fun road trips end it was time for me to leave and return to my boat for my next sail down to Florida.
