Rub her baggy bumpers
The first event of the Minneapolis TB meetup was dinner with Mark (travelman727) and Julie (Pinchora) at Hard Rock Cafe on Block E. There was a Wiggles concert next door at the Target Center so there was an abnormally large child population downtown this afternoon. We had a quick supper and a very delicious but disappointing brownie sundae and headed over to the Shout House Dueling Piano bar around the corner.
We arrived at the Shout House and had our pick of the tables. Soon Michael (moon over michael) joined us and we were ready for some action! It was a Thursday night so it was actually pretty dead in there, but it did pick up later on. We watched a couple of girls go up on stage while they had a song (bachelorette or birthday related) sung to them.
A couple of guys went up too and I thought it looked like fun. So Julie and Michael put up a song request that basically said I wanted to go on stage. I thought they were going to ignore it, but then the cute guy called me up to the stage. I was so excited! Since it wasn't my birthday and I wasn't getting married they decided that they would sing to me because I was pregnant (oh gosh, does my beer belly show that much?). It was a hilarious song probably called something like, "why don't we get drunk and screw". I was laughing so hard from my seat up on the piano and was just playing along with the lyrics (wishing they were true!). After the song he asked me if I would like my bumper sticker on my front bumper or my rear bumper. So I presented my front bumper to him (the only other bumper sticker given away was refused so I didn't know what was about to happen!). I was a little confused to see the sticker across his forhead, sticky side out , but then he lunged towards me and began rubbing is face all over my bosoms. I was so surprised (but thoroughly enjoyed it)! Afterwards, the sticker started peeling up and I was hoping he'd come back and re-apply it for me, but he didn't. But that sure made my day! What a great way to start off the weekend!Julie took a video of part of the song why don't we get drunk and screw

If you're there for a birthday or bachelor/ette party, they'll bring you up on stage and sing an embarassing song for/about you that often has adult humor. It is hilarious! I went up on stage and they sang about me being pregnant (which I wasn't) and the song lyrics were "why don't we get drunk and screw".
Sometimes they'll play a horrible song that is slow and boring that no one wants to hear and they'll say, "I got $5 to play this song. You don't like it, $6 will get you a different song." The idea is that people will throw a bunch of money up there with requests so the pianos will "duel" and the players will make more money. But they didn't do any dueling because the crowd wasn't really into it. We were there on a Thursday, so it wasn't very busy. They are busier and rowdier on weekends with more requests and more crowd interaction. If you don't participate, they'll point you out and put you on the spot. This didn't happen nearly enough, in my opinion.
The piano bar serves food and drinks and they play from 8pm-1am. Get there early to get a good seat and you can usually beat the cover charge if you're in before 9 pm. This isn't really the place to go if you want to talk all night because its hard to hear over the piano and you'd probably rather listen to the music anyway. It was a fun time and is perfect for small gatherings and even more fun if you request songs and sing along. Be sure to bring your $1 bills!
UPDATE: I went again to the Shout House on a Wednesday night for 80s night and it was insane! There were so many people there that there was standing room only and so many requests they were turning them away by 10:30 pm. People were dressed in 80s costumes and they only played songs from the 80s or 80s movies. The crowd was a little more into it, but with so many people there it was hard to hear or even see the stage. Plus, they had $1 tap beers (Miller High Life only), so our tab was only $5 for a couple of hours.
