Most Excitement
January 11, 2007
The most exciting thing we did besides visit our new grandson was to attend a couple of Aggie basketball games. The crowd really gets "into it," but you have to keep up with all of the traditions or you may get booted! A & M doesn't have "cheerleaders"in the traditional sense but they have "yell leaders" who are members of the Corps of Cadets. Since we didn't understand most of what they were saying it was difficult to follow along. We got especially nervous when everyone put arms around each other during the school fight song and began swaying back and forth.

AggieLand
January 11, 2007
We arrived in College Station, Texas in the week before Christmas to visit our son and our new grandson. This is the home of Texas A & M University- the Aggies, "Gig'em", "12th man," yada, yada, yada. The entire town is about the university. There is so much tradition, we were afraid to step on the grass most anywhere. There is no real 'downtown" here, just strip malls surrounding the university and lots of traffic. It was very difficult to find anything to do here that isn't associated with the university. If you are going to visit, be sure to read up on the Aggie traditions so you don't offend anyone.

If you have to travel to Aggie Land (Texas A & M) in your RV- this is the best place to stay! We can see the football stadium from our site and have about 1 1/2 miles to Reed Fieldhouse. Spacious, concrete pads, electric included, cable TV, swimming pool. No showers or laundry (so not a 5 star)- but visit HarveyWashbangers in town for the BEST laundry experience ever! We checked out the other possibilities in the area and found Holiday RV was FAR superior!
