la poupée qui fait non ^_^
August 15, 2008
la poupée qui fait non (the puppet said no) is always the song playing in my mind whenever i visit francophone countries in europe ^_^ (eg: luxembourg, france and belgium) i dont know why?! but its nice - the song actually from mylene farmer and khaled ^_^
so where of f to our train to liège, me and poodle got in, while the american settled his things first and sat on the opposite side of us. the poodle was so unusually quiet... :( me and the american talked alot! i couldnt remember his name! but i remembered all his details! hahahaha hes been living and working for 6 weeks in aachen, germany - his heritage is part slovak and part german, living in columbus, ohio - but i couldnt remember his name! hahahahaha the ride to liège takes 1 hours, but me and the american - were so busy talking to each other! and when the american asked some things to poodle - poodle was so rude to him!!! :(( but he was so nice! the ride was so short! i couldnt believe it - time really flies if good conversations are in between! whoever you are - sorry i forgot your name - thank you very much for the nice conversation we had!
i've visited liège 3x in my lifetime in germany - i dont know the ways with the train, as i always go by car with friends and a friend was married here. i love this city in belgium! in fact its one of my favorite cities in europa! my favortie tennis player in the world hails from liège, the city is very different! lots of gothic, belle epoque and medieval houses - BUT all is black, dirty and in chaos! i mean the city dont have much money to renovate the amazing and fantastic architectures they have! its also very alternative! there are hundreds of maybe thousands (i dont know) alternative and punks scenes inside liège! i love i love i love i love this city! bless you!
when we arrived at liège-guillemins station - the american and us parted our ways and when i got out of the train i was fucking open mouthed! the train station was nothing short of fantastic! post-modern architecture designed by the famous santiago calatrava - though its only about 30-40% finished its very magnifique! amazing!!!
now as i said, i dont know how to get to the city from liège-guillemins, because by car we always go direct to the centre. i looked confused, because the people in the francophone countries barely or dont speak english at all and we are not in the capital bruxelles or in the flemish region of belgium. so we walked to this sort of dump behind the station - then we saw some buses and some stations, its not hard to see the map - because i know the center of liège - i saw a bus going to the opera - and i know its in the center and we went for it! but my heart is pounding fast - because ive seen this before - its hard to communicate in the francophone region - but when we got on the bus - a very young driver was there! he was so cool! that he can practice his english! hahahah hahah he even acts like elvis presley talking in english with his sunglasses on! hahahah hahahah hahahahahahaha weirdness! hahaha.
poodle couldnt take hold of his emotions ^_^ because he was in belgium! hahahahah hahahahha hahahha haha he was so excited! hahaha
the ride was amazing - because you see lots of wonderful architectures side by side with ugly and trashy buildings! what a contrast!
at the end of the stop in the opera - we just basically followed signs - then we realized were going down to the river and were hearing bass and drum sounds from the across the river - and all the people were going there to we followed them further till! and we stumbled upon a carnival celebration! hahahaha it was so trashy i love it! ^_^
now the celebration was called "le quinze aout" its celebrated exactly on the 15th of august in liège! hahahah thats why were wondering why the old town and the shops were closed! ^_^ and in the middle of the feast WERE THE ONLY NON RANDOM BELGIAN AROUND hahahah hahahah hahha i cant stop laughing! it was so. . i dont know - blissful experience for me! hahaha.
we watched three parades - the witch parade, the jesters parade and the polar bear parade hahahahahaha hahahahha before we set back to the old town.
it was so dark in the alley ways in liège with no people and shops closed! kinda scary actually! but we love being alone and exploring peopleless streets and he had his first belgian beer! jupiler - not stella artois! hahahaha
now we kept circling round and round and round! poodle is very strange, because he doenst like using the same direction 2x hahahha so we got a bit confused and lost finding the notre-dame. its on the directions on the street i told him, but he wasnt listening to me ^_^ so, no choice but to go to the tourism center of liège and a nice woman gave us a 3d map of liége.
when we finally got to the notre dame, we sat down for a while, i told poodle too, i was so tired - 3 days of walking took its toll on me :( when we were at the fountain across the notre dame, some teenagers where a bit rowdy and at one point splashed water at us - well basically to poodle because he was on their side. they laughed and i was of course enraged and shouted at them at the top of my lungs in german - and basically all the people in the plaza looked at them, the stupid girl was shocked probably because its the first time she had been embarrased in her life that she cried at the arms of her boyfriend! hahahaha whattafuck?! were waiting for an apology but i think they were scared of me. hahahahah hahahahahahahah hahahahaha
poodle - awww poor him - was all wet - i smoked some tabako, till i calmed down - poodle was cool but i was not! of course! aarghhh im ANGRY! hahahaa
after some calming with nerves hahaha - poodle suggested to to to the montagne de beuren - to be honest i am dreading this - because its a long long long and steep walk to the top! arrghhh but what can i do? poodle was practically pushing and shoving me in no time! hahahaha
so we headed off to the view point - i had already blisters in my toes i can feel it. and my legs were already shaking. i think in just 3 days i did less than 50 kms of walking!!! my fucking legs hurt! it was literally painful and a beautiful walk - because we used the "the path less travelled" to the montagne, it was a peaceful walk along small alleys and beautiful houses - renovated and rundown in liège.
then on some turn he said that thats the way to the viewpoint, when we were there - we obviously took a wrong turn because the "viewpoint" was rubbish and slabs of rocks from a crumbling building! hahahahaha hahahahah were idiots! hahahahah hahahah
we sat for a while a redirected our steps, i cant anymore as i was catching my breath and needing yes - a cigarette hahahaha.
but poodle was so obssesed in finding he - he pushed me back and helped me walk. he was so active than i ever imagined! hahahaha hes still kept going no matter what!
i was panting and catching my breath when we reached the top. i need a breather and i asked poodle to stay there for a while and sat and drink water.
we stayed at the top for quite a while. our train back to aachen was at 9:34 pm so, we stayed there till 7 pm - walked to the old town again and find a CHEAP resto to eat as all were expensive except for junkfoods. we couldnt find one that suites my taste as we were in the arabic and eastern mediterenean corner of liège - i dont like the cuisine. and i remembered a pizzeria! just below where we came from! so we went there and shared a grande pizza! now my french is really bad i know only some words to read - and there was an ingredient called "oleuf" i thought it was olives on the pizza but it was the fresh egg yolk! hahahahaha yuck - i told poodle to eat it! hahahahha thank god the waitress speaks english! ^_^
we went back to the central station. and readied ourselves to go back to aachen - to germany.
thank you very much ben for remembering me and sending me a message on the phone that you will visit me. i appreciated all the good times we had. your goofy jokes hahahaha, the embarassing moments, you farted 3 times in front me and that was so fucking loud! hahahah hahaha, the stumbling upon a town feast in liége, i will never forget your endless questions and curiosities and of you course for twisting my leg you idiot! hahhahahahah
thank you thank you thank you friend ^_^ hasta luego *winks*
