Kuala Lumpur!
Ok so i always told myself that next time i travel i would keep one of these blogs updated along with my travels... well, it didn't happen, im currently lying in bed at home and thought i would give this a shot! I had an amazing trip, but theres no so much to put into words.. its more about the people you meet and the personal experience you gain.
Day 1 in KL:
Lucky for me I had a spare seat next to me on the plane, so i was able to spread out and get a bit comfy.. although with all the excitement of the trip is was totally ridiculous to think i would actually get any sleep!
I arrived at KLIA at about 6:30am. I caught the express train to KL Sentral where my friend would be meeting me. He lives just off Bukit Bingtang, so from sentral we caught the mono-rail.
The weather in KL was awesome... the sun was shining and there were blue skies all around. I shoved my jacket right at the very bottom of my bag, knowing i wouldnt be needing that until i arrived back in melbourne 2 weeks later!
Paul took me back to his apartment which was only a short walk from the station. He showed me the basics (pool haha) and then he had to head off to work. I was so tired but my mind was so excited so I just had to go exploring!
KL really surprised me... the only other big asian city i have been to is Bangkok, and i expected KL to be the same.
For those looking for designer goods, make sure you head to Pavillion shopping centre... money money money at that place!! BBPlaza and Lot10 are more suited for the budget conscious, but deff make sure to check them all out anyway!
After some exploring and a failed attempt at a nap (10mins on the couch doesnt really count) i headed off with my comp to the pub and in true holiday style sat down and ordered a few cocktails.
(Just a note to anyone who isnt aware... its worth travelling with ur laptop in KL as they have a thing called wireless KL which a lot of the pubs have and its free to use).
When Paul got home from work i was STARVING!!! For my first true malaysian meal he took me to some street markets. Must say i had some delicious sweet n sour chicken and some spicey vegetables (although i think i was allergic to one of the vegies cos it made my mouth foam... but that aside it was a great meal!!)
