Day 1 Malmo
August 6, 2008
We flew into Copehagen and got the short train over the bridge to Malmo. Once we arrived at the station we were feeling a bit lazy and decided to get a taxi. We knew price of the taxi (like everywhere else in the world) wasn't going to be cheap and there were other ways of getting to the hotel, like walking but we went for the taxi option anyway. 6mins later we had paid 200Kr ! After unpacking and looking at maps to plan where we were going to go we headed out of the hotel to explore Malmo as we only going to have one day here. So we decided to head toward the Turing Torso. We then headed into the harbor area and sat by the sea over looking the bridge that connects Sweden to Demark and watched fishing boats and yachts sailing. We headed back into town and walked downt he cobbled backstreets and headed into one of the sqaures call ed Lilla torg and headed to one of the many bars/cafés on offer, it was 4pm and people were heading into bars and cafés to get there night started.
After an hour headed back to the hotel and asked reception if they had any recommendations of places to eat and any bars to visit later on. They suggested this restaurant which one we go there was already full. So we tried another just around the corner which served good food and had a good atmosphere. We then headed to the bar that they had suggested called Debaser located in
Norra Parkgatan which is out of the normal tourist track. What a find this bar may not suit all tastes but it had one of the strangest but best astmospheres ever. The music they played would possibly be discribed as alternative, which isn't normally my thing, however it seemed to work here and go down well with a few drinks. The locals where dancing and having a good time which you would normally expect from a Friday or Saturday night but it was Wednesday !! As the night got later (1:30am) the bar was still filling up and people joining the party it was great i finally left at around 2:30 just before it closed happy that i had been told about this bar.
