Waking up, you did not want to get out of the bed. The warm bottle resting against you was so nice. It took all my effort to get into the cold. Then I took a shower and that was even worse since you get wet, turn off the water, soap up and turn back on the water. I get cold thinking about it!

Anyways, had breakfast and headed into the crater.

Driving around, we saw our regular animal friends, the zebra, wildebeests, warthogs, ostriches, etc.

We saw three lions right as we got into the crater. These lions were laying down like the previous ones but had their heads up. There was two males and two females. They were very close to us as the previous lions were. One of the males looked like he had just gotten into a fight. He had a lot of scratches and cuts around his hindquarters.

Our guide said that the two males must have taken over the females from another male lion. The hurt male was not expected to live that much longer.

We had been told to keep our eyes open for black rhinos. There are supposedly only 19 black rhinos left in the Tanzanian area (cant confirm this). As we were driving, our guide stopped and started looking through his binoculars. And he found a black rhino mom and her baby! They were really far away but with binoculars you could see them. It was great to see them. They are big animals and its good to see them reproducing as they have come very close to extiction.

We then went into the forest area of the crater in hopes of finding a leopard in the trees. We saw some black vervet monkeys but no leopards unfortunately.
After driving through the forest we were on the search for a cheetah in the grass. Again we failed but it was ok. We saw some Masais who had brought their cows into the crater. Cows to Masai is like money to us, the more you have the richer you are in their eyes.

We had lunch in the crater. It was right by a smaller hippo pool and zebras were literally 30 feet away from us. Pretty exciting stuff.

After lunch we decided to try the forest again for leopards. Again we didnt see any. As we were pulling away from the forest, one of the guides radio our guide telling him that they had seen a leopard and to turn around. So our LR and the other LR (3 total for our safari excursion) started to turn arouond. As we were turning around, the guide who has said they had seen the leopard radio our guide telling him it was a big joke, they just wanted to pull a prank on us! It was very funny to see how excited we got and quickly we began to turn around. It was also great to see our guides having fun. We got them back, no worries.

As we were heading for the exit of the crater we saw another black rhino mom and her baby. A different pair! Four rhinos in one day!

Also supposedly people had seen a cheetah in the tall grass but we looked and it was no where to be found.

Dinner and another night around the fire ended the day. Again, they gave us hot water bottles.
