Playa Costa Del Sol

We decided to finish the trip with a relaxing day on the beach. After leaving Ilapango in the late afternoon, we drove to a the Coast. East of La Libertad along the pacific coast of El Salvador is Costa del Sol and, we thought, a good final destination for us. Since we had no plan, we would drive until we found a place to stay. Unfortunately this time it didn't work out the best, a recommendation from my friends in San Salvador would have been useful as we later found out.
The drive from San Salvador is very fast and really only took a little more than one hour. The advantage of ending the trip in this area is that it is very close to the airport maybe only 20 to 30 minutes by car.
Costa del Sol is mostly private beach houses with only a few resorts. We arrived to the beach at dusk and all houses have a wall along the beach road making it difficult to get an orientation. Also, we may have passed by a small hotel or two and not even known it was there. After driving 20 or 30 minutes and only seeing one very small hotel, we were concerned about finding a place to stay. We came on the Tesoro Beach Resort. Probably 30 years ago it was an impressive property, but it is in a sad state today. Anyway, we took a room, because the light was fading, and we didn't want to drive further. In the future, I will book a private house as most owners rent them out.
The hotel reception was run by a guy from San Diego. He was actually very nice and even allowed us to use the computer in his office to check email. On checking in, he let us pick our room, so we chose a room at the end of the longest corridor in El Salvador (which seemed to never end). The room was right on the beach, a very nice location. The hotel was still in the style from when it was built, which is not necessarily bad, but the maintenance had been deferred and many things in the hotel did not work very well (Plumbing). He was waiting for us at dinner because nobody in the restaurant could speak English and they were afraid of trying to communicate with us. Haha later they found out about our Spanish luckily Donna's is much better than mine.
Anyway, the resort we had to ourselves. There were more cattle on the beach than people, and that is not a joke. Hahahaha. D decided to play a trick on me during my nap, she got a foto of me sleeping and oblivious to the cattle. So we relaxed, read books and listened to music, but most of the time it rained so there was not time for surfing. The day we left, the sun came out. Costa Del Sol is beautiful and next time in a private house and with surf boards it will be great. El Salvador is reknowned for no crowding, clean waves, right breaks and very consistent waves. Sweet!!!! OK so next time!
