Today I am thinking to myself that I will be home in New Zealand very soon and I am looking forward very much to catching up and telling my friends about Spain, Spanish and my adventures.
It has been a journey, happy, hard, hopeful and sometimes homesick but I think I have changed a bit as a person, which was one of the reasons for going.
My Spanish has improved a lot in the last few weeks, for a number of reasons; but mostly to do with me getting confidence.
I very much admire extroverts and a lot of women in the way they can initiate conversations and start to build language skills far quicker than I can a male introvert. It makes a huge difference to building oral language skills. Also it helps to make some friends who do not want to speak English. I have two good friends here in Spain - Dirk a German in Granada and Monica a women from China in both Granada and Salamanca. We have spent many many hours working together to speak Spanish often making heaps of errors but their support helped me a lot.
But today I have museums to visit...
