I've visited the south of France several times and i have to say, it's one of my favourite destinations. I love the feeling of luxury that you get in this region of France. It's everywhere. This time, we stayed in a hotel in Cannes
, where the famous filmfestival takes place every year. And even though the hotel wasn't chic at all, you get that rich feeling immediately when you step out of the hotel. The expensive shops of Armani, Louis Vuitton and Versace are everywhere in this city and when you reach the famous promenade La Croisette, it's only getting better. On the boulevard, you'll find great hotels like the Carlton, the Martinez and the Hilton. I like to see all the people going in and out of the hotels and driving away in their expensive cars while i'm sitting on one of the blue chairs on the boulevard.
The famous Negresco Hotel in Nice
It's a great view. The other side of the boulevard is at least as beautiful. There you'll see all the private beaches of the hotel and behind them the sea with the many big yachts. We went to the harbour to see some of them and it's really amazing. But these yachts are very small when you compare them to the yachts we saw in the harbour of Monaco and Antibes especially. You should really visit these places. Personally i like Antibes the best. It has a small city centre with a market and many cafés and restaurants. The citywalls around the village are also beautiful. We went by car so we drove on these walls and from there you have a great view over the sea and the coastline. We didn't stop in this village because we were on our way to Nice
and i can tell you: Nice = nice! Very nice.
The boulevard is great and the old town is just amazing with the markets and small cafes. We decided to climb to the parc that is located on top of a hill. It was really hot that day and it took some effort but it was really worth it! From there, we had the best view of the terracotta roofs of the old town, the boulevard and the harbour of Nice. I really could stay there forever enjoying the view. But i didn't. We went to the old city to have some icecream and after that, we went to Monaco. Like i wrote before, we were travelling by car and the part between Monaco and Nice is a very beautiful part. We saw very small villages that must look the same for hundreds of years now i suppose. One of them was Villefranche sur Mer. When you see a village like that, you can't imagine that a city like Nice or Monte Carlo is just 10 km away from it.
Vieux Port de Nice
Monte Carlo is a place you really have to see in life i think. Everyone has seen it in films and it's great to visit the place in real life for once. The harbour is a nice spot of course but the highlight of Monaco is the Casino of Monte Carlo. I loved to see it with all those expensive cars parked in front of it. You feel like you're in a Bond film! After seeing Monaco we drove back to Antibes again. We had a drink in the harbour with a view of the huge yachts and after that we drove back to our hotel. We've had some great days in la douce France!
