For the first time in years i visited Verona again. I had already visited this place once but i was a kid at that time and i didn't remember much about it. Because it was in the opera season, we booked tickets for the opera. I like opera but my boyfriend absolutely loves it and we heard that visiting one in Verona is a must then. We had tickets for Aida, the most performed opera in Verona and i was already in the mood for it when we walked around in the city center. Lots of people were selling livrettos and early in the evening there were a lot of people in fancy clothes on the famous Piazza Bra that would go visit the opera. When we took place on a terrace in front of the Arena we saw a huge line with people that didn't have tickets but who wanted to see the opera from the stairs.

Entire families with pillows were waiting to get in and find a good seat. I was happy we already had tickets so we had a nice dinner and a nice bottle of wine. It wasn't really busy because a lot of Italians have dinner after the opera at 00:30! But we enjoyed the food and at 21:00 we entered the arena. The arena looks huge on the outside but on the inside it looks even bigger. Over 15.000 people can watch opera in this arena, can you imagine? At the entrance we all got a small candle and a few minutes before the opera began, everyone lightned this candle. It was so beautiful to see all those candles! And then the music started. It was amazing, the whole atmosphere is just so great! And the costumes and decorations were also fabulous. There was a huge piramid on stage, one that would never fit in a real theatre. We really enjoyed every minute of it and enjoyed a drink on the beautiful square after the performance. The next day i realised we were very lucky because it rained so much that the opera of that night was cancelled...
