The landscape before and after Highway 1 is mesmerizing. Big Sur exposes the visitor to the natural beauty of the California Coast. The area offers a variety of outdoor activities, sights, flora, and wide ranging climate.

Friends and I went camping at Big Sur. The camp ground we chose was Fernwood Resort…an excellent (and I am highly recommending this) camp ground! You camp amidst Redwood trees and creeks. Despite the recent fires at Big Sur, there's still a wealth of area untouched by the disaster. This has been the best camping trip I’ve been on to date; in part because we brought above and beyond the amenities necessary for camping.  And the food…LOTS! Also, we involved ourselves in activities, one after the other. There were also stories, games, jokes, and odd topics discussed sitting around a roaring fire huddled in blankets or bundled in sweaters. The whole experience felt like camping in someone’s backyard!!
