Panagia tou Araka

Nog even in de zon â€śuitbuikenâ€ť en daarna door naar het volgende dat op het programma stond en daarvoor reden we weer langs mooie uitzichten naar de Panagia tou Araka. Ook hier troffen we weer een rijk versierde kerk aan deze keer niet met muurschilderingen maar met frescoâ€™s. Deze kerk behoorde bij een monnikenklooster alleen die monniken zijn er niet meer. Pal naast deze kerk stond ook nog een ongeveer 800 jaar oude steeneik. Geweldig hoe zoâ€™n boom er na zo lange tijd uitziet, maar hij moest wel gestut worden.

After digesting in the sun we headed to the next item on the program which was the Panagia tou Araka. Here too we found a very rich decorated church however this time there were no murals but frescos on the walls. This church was part of a monastery but there hadnâ€™t been a monk around here for a while. Another very old tree (800 years approximately) was next to this church but it obviously needed some help.
