Why not use your hands to milk a cow?
Cows, cows, cows, happy relaxing people,
beautiful landscape and and good food.
What more can you ask for?
Wild, beautiful and exciting! Those are bound to be your impressions as you pursue adventures in Synnerdalen.
The gentle yet unspoiled scenery, the mountain pastures still in use, and well-marked trails that is made for easy hiking allow us to enjoy the great outdoor life.
Synnerdalen consists of alpine areas with peaks and valleys with gentle slopes - sometimes referred to as "the gentle mountains".
These beautiful surroundings are
You will also find a cultural landscape, still maintained by a living cultural heritage, and lush valleys with a special flora and interesting geology.
The mountain farms of the area are in use throughout the summer, and here goats and sheep, cows and horses find good pasture.
The purpose of Synnerdalen and Budalen as a protected landscape area is to “Conserve a unique natural and cultural landscape and its flora, where the particularities of the landscape are comprised of mountain farm pastures and cultural monuments.
”
And if you are ready for an adventure you do like me and visit one of the mountain farms and offer to help with the daily life for a day, two days……… or a hole week.
I am so fortuned and have a friend who is living in Synnerdalen in summer time.
The farmers move their cows to the valley early in the summer and move them back to the farm late autumn.
My friend Ingvild and I drove to Synnerdalen to visit Oddgeir and his beautiful mountain farm. The main house is a small cottage about 30 kvadratmeters, and includes all you need.
A small kitchen, a small bedroom and a small living room.
The farm includes also a small annex with a small kitchen and two bed rooms.
This is the fifth year I`m visiting my friend Oddgeir and offers him to help him out with his daily doings at his mountain farm.
To bee honest; I could have paid to help him milking these calm, beautiful cows.
And as there is no electricity in the valley you have to do it the old way.
We had some very nice days in Synnerdalen.
Nice weather, nice people and high producing cows to milk.
And we had our own fiddler visiting us with her fiddle, making the evening complete with music, song and laughter.
Those of you who have been reading my blogs, especially from
