I have been in Turkey now for three days and am loving it so far.  We got in late the first night and explored Istanbul where a huge festival was going on for Ramadan.  There were performers throwing fire and different people dancing, singing and playing music.  We definitely picked an interesting time to visit Turkey.  It was strange how active the city was so late at night.  During the day we went through the grand bazaar, which is a huge market filled with every imaginable suvenoir.  Everyone there was trying to get our attention and made multiple attempts with various languages to get us to buy something.  Istanbul has quite the persistent sales people.  After that we were given various sheets to cover our bodies with so that we could enter the blue mosque.

That was the first time I have ever been inside a mosque... it was incredible inside with ornate decorations from floor to ceiling.  There was nothing inside the actual buildling since all praying is done on their knees.  After the mosque we walked through more of the city and got some Kebabs and delicious turkish deserts.

That night we had to sprint to catch a night bus to Cappadocia which is completely different than Istanbul.  The bus ride took all night and when we arrived it felt like we had gotten to the moon.  I can't even describe the landscape here... there are massive rock formations everywhere and each layer of rock is visible becaus of the different mineral deposits.

We went on a guided tour of the various tourist spots today which was amazing... We saw all sorts of cave dwellings and churchs built within the rocks and saw women weaving turkish rugs on looms (i even got to tie a knot( and saw men making pottery on hand powered wheels.  I could keep writing about everything we saw, but interweb here isn't too good... i just thought i would write a quick entry to update everyone while i had a chance.  I;ll get some pictures up when I return to Israel.  Hope everyone is well

Great update! I looked at a map so I could find where to put your pin for Cappadocia. You are right in the center of Turkey, amazing! Can't wait for the photos. Continue to enjoy your journey. Safe and Happy travels. xxxoooMOM
