Pike's Peak

Pike's Peak is one of Colorado's 14'ers.  Isolated from other high peaks, this appoximately 14,110 foot mountatin is a spectacular sight at the edge of Colorado Springs.  You can drive up the mountain or take the Cog Railway, which starts in Manitou Springs.  On a really clear day, you can see all the way to downtown Denver.  Although you might not realize it, straight out to the East you can see into Kansas.  Looking towards the West, you'll see green valleys and the white capped Rockies in the distance.  Every way you look, the scenery is beautiful.  No matter what time of you decide to go, just remember to bring something warm to wear at the top.  While it might be hot back in the valley, it'll be a lot chillier up top.  And as always in Colorado, but especially up in the mountains, bring and drink lots of water or the altitude will get you!
