OMG...I Have Pink Fur Stuck to My Lips! LOL
So, Sunday I woke up to my phone ringing at almost 11am - talk about oversleeping. Yikes! The plan for Sunday was possibly to meet up with Angel (knead2travel) for smoothies on her way to the Martial Arts convention in Long Beach. After a few phone tags, we talked at 11:30am and she said let's meet for lunch......at 12:30pm. WHAT?!? Uhh, I will still be getting ready at 12:30pm! I told her to stall if she could at South Coast Plaza and I would hurry - I managed to get ready in lightning speed time and texted her that I am good to go.
The plan was to meet at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Long Beach - YEAH! Believe it or not, I had never been to this one even though it was 10 minutes from where I used to live. Got there right after Angel and her friends arrived and after some not so great parking karma, I was there.
Angel was there with her friend Mike and Mari, who is a foreign exchange student from Japan visiting a neighbor of Angel's. We settled in for a good chat as we had quite the wait which was interesting since the group of like 20 bikers came in and they managed to seat them but not a table of 4?!?!?We finally get in and get ordered. Angel and I ordered the same thing - one chicken breast and a waffle. Mari had chicken sausage, grits, and scrambled eggs. Mike, well, Mike pretty much ordered the Southern feast - he had collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and a boat load of fried chicken. Not sure how, but he managed to eat that whole plate of food. I am so happy I just ordered the one each combo or I would've had a bunch of leftovers.
We sent Melanie a pic of us at the restaurant and she quickly replied with one of her and Tommy at Bellagio's pool! LOL. I am truly surprised we didn't get frozen yogurt pics instead! HA HA.After finishing lunch, they realized it was going to be too late to go to the convention since it was ending in 2 hours and the cost at the door was $20 pp which was crazy for such a short time. I was scheduled to go meet up with my family but said I could hang a little bit if they were going to stay around Long Beach. We opted to head over to the Pike and see what kind of trouble we could get into. OMG, we had such a great afternoon. We wandered down to the water and opted to hop on the Aquabus that takes you around the Long Beach Harbor and over to the Queen Mary.
We arrived at the Queen Mary and Angel remembered you could now get to the Observation Bar and deck w/out having to pay as it used to be in the past. On the way we passed the store for the Russian sub on exhibit so we wandered in to check out the merchandise. OMG, if you know Angel - you know Angel and hat pictures! She put on one of the hats and then roped Mari and I into joining. I think we look rather cute in our Russian hats! LOL. Poor Mike who was playing photographer all the time....with three cameras of course! HA HA HA.
We checked out the views from the front of the ship and the silly behavior continued. I think Angel has her Titantic pictures on her camera. We did our best imitation of Paul's (Loganbruin) profile photo which led to other silly photos on the ship's ropes.
Then we found this I don't even know what and figured out Angel could fit in it so Mike tried to stuff her in there....love those photos! LOL. And then Angel and I tried to climb up on the old machine guns which were rather uncomfortable without seats! :-)Next it was off to to catch the next Aquabus back over and finish our little roundtrip of the harbor. Angel and I were giggly and having fun and we look over at Mike and Mari and they are straight knocked out! HA HA HA. Sorry Mike, but I couldn't resist at least getting one photo fo you sleeping!!! LOL. We pretty much had to wake them up when we docked. As we were pulling in, Angel and I heard live music and she spotted a pig! Well, a guy dressed in a pink pig suit that is who was doing the robot and breakdancing up on the waterfront.
OMG, we HAVE to get a picture with the pig. We wake Mari and Mike up saying we gotta go see the pig and they both looked at us like we were nuts...probably thought they were having a strange dream or something! We ran off the boat and up the ramp to the pig who turns out to be named Wilbur and is the "mascot" for a bbq restaurant called Famous Dave's. It's at this point that Angel has the bright idea that we should take a photo like we are biting the pig! LOL. We ask his "handlers" who give us free reign with Wilbur and off we chomp! Unfortunately, I ended up with pink fur stuck to my lips as I had lipstick on...ooops! Each camera was a little different variation, Mari's was the BEST as Wilbur had his, uhhhh, "hands", paws, feet, whatever clasped praying not to be devoured but us! LOL.
Only in this world do pigs have opposable thumbs!A quick run by Cold Stone for Mike to grab a bottle of water (and get our ticket validated) and still had time for me to lose willpower and try one of their new smoothies! We headed back to the car and on the elevator, tried to remember what floor we were on. All I remember was the little horse on the pillars - couldn't tell you what floor. As we are talking a guy in other group says, "I have high heels" to which Angel makes a comment and we all start laughing. He said he was referring to the parking level they were on.....suuuuure! Ironically, we got rather turned around in the structure and Mike ended up driving up a level instead of down and guess what.
...level 5 was pink high heels! HA HA HA.Sadly, I was already back at my car (ok, after a few wrong turns in Long Beach and our scenic route down on Pico Ave on Terminal Island) and off to meet up with my family for the evening. I had a great time with Angel and her friends....and some great photographic memories! LOL Thanks for such a fun and memorable afternoon!
