Day 2:
I finally arrived in London a little over 2 hours later than I was supposed to on the previous flight. I spent a week in London last September, but it was on a lame tour group, so I didn't enjoy it very much, I knew this time was going to be different! I called Carly right away and she had already gotten tired of waiting and left for the hostel; we agreed to meet there. It was drizzling in London, and me, having just come from Los Angeles, was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Carly was waiting for me right outside the tube station at Picadilly Circus. She was super nice and I'm really glad I met her through travbuddy :). We went to the hostel, I dropped off my luggage and we wandered around a little. Then we met up with Leigh, a guy from Sydney that Carly met on the Contiki forums. Leigh (pronounced Lee) was a really cool and down to earth guy. We walked past though SoHo, by Leicester Square (I have NO idea how or why thats pronounced 'Lester'), the national gallery, big ben, parliament. Then we went to a pub for a drink and I found some language discrepencies... I said to Leigh, "We should get a pitcher", he gives me the weirdest look ever and responds "what? of just like you and me?" and baffled, i respond "like a pitcher of beer?" And then I spent some time explaining what pitcher was... So apparently, they say the word "picture" and it sounds almost identical to how americans say pitcher. In addition, they call a pitcher of beer, a "jug". Then we walked around some more, then deicded we were too tired/jetlagged to go out as we had planned earlier on. Went to Burger King (...yes, i know, but nothing else we saw looked appetizing). Then to another pub for some more pints, and called it a night around 8.
