Jaipur (The Pink City)

I took the night train to Jaipur and straightaway hired another pedicab driver to give me the full-on tour of the city. It's another very dirty city, with plenty of live animals running around, but I liked the pinkish hues on the buildings. After seeing most of the city, my driver pulled over the side of the road and engaged in conversation with a friend of his. Then, they walked up to me pitching some gem scam that made me roll my eyes. Uhm, yeah, that's nice, but I don't think so. I gave him some b.s. excuse that never would have held up in court and he reluctantly let me off at my hotel, a sad run-down affair that may possibly have had at least one unbroken window. Dinner was another packet of noodles and dried fruit that I took with me from BKK. On this trip I am only eating the ten days worth of food I brought with me from Bangkok. The last thing I need is "delhi-belly".
The next day, I hired a taxi to see the magnificent Amber Fort. After that, we drove to the hilltop Jaiharh Fort with its impressive views of Jaipur below and the dilapidated Water Palace (now sitting high and dry).
