Getting the flower arrangements ready in preparation for the wedding.
Yes, it was the night of the bachelor and bachelorette parties, but we had some few tasks ahead of us before the segregation of the sexes. First, I was asked to run out to pick up sandwiches to help us recover from the hangovers aquired from the previous night's embibements. Then, while the girls were preparing some of the flower arrangements I was tasked to cut fresh mint from the perennial garden in order to fill in the extra spaces between the flowers and the sap buckets. Hmmm, that gave me an idea for mojitos later that week. ;p
At some point I recall that we were separated, and I ventured off with the boys to see the place where the madness would ensue. The Pond House as it was called, turned out to be a hell of a venue for a good group of guys to get together and cook some burgers and drink some beers, etc.

The thing was, Leigh's friend Bill had already dolled out 3 large Jack Daniels and Red Bulls. Never would have put sour mash whiskey into a medicine flavored energy drink, but considering the occasion, how could I say no? Hell, it was a good hangover cure for Leigh, who had suffered direly from the night before. Though, the only problem was that before the bachelor party could start Leigh and his boys still had to play a double-header of beer-league volleyball. Well, we were well on our way to catching a buzz anyway.
They started the evenings games as the first-place team in the league, and stomped the first team in two games with no problems. Though, I must admit, the lubrication via alcohol continued and we onlookers could begin to see the fatigue setting in on the team.

The second match of the night was between Leigh's "Meat Curtain" and the second-place team. At first, Meat Curtain showed promise, but by the end of the night, after a strong showing from both teams, the Curtain fell and could no longer claim the cream of the league. Our venue, The Brewskie, an apres-ski pub with a good selection of beers, pool tables, a solid juke-box, and some lip-burning hotwings.
The games were over and we were getting hungry and ready for some keg beer. Our party relocated to the Pond House. There was a nice keg and we made that it would stay cold. Everyone complained of a grumbling stomache, but nobody seemed to want to take the initiative to cook, so I, the out-of-towner, decided to take it upon myself. I stood outside making the preparations for the dogs and burgers while the boys readied the house for an imminent arrival of the classic bachelor party type. Funny thing was, after all that grilling, the food went largely untouched for quite a long period. Maybe the crowd was distracted?
Anyway, it was fun. Leigh's family and friends were with him and we didn't sleep until the sun was up. I made a point of aquiring one of the 8 beds before they were all accounted for.
