Very Tight (literally) - Christmas Markt in Dresden, Germany

This was a trip to the Dresden Christmas Markt that my daughter and I took in December 2004. They say that the Nuremburg Christmas Market is crowded. Well, I think this ranked high in the crowded department. We still managed to enjoy it though.

Okay, I've heard that the Nuernburg Christmas Markt was crowded but I think the Dresden Markt had it beat!   We actually lost part of our party within minutes.  The poor lady didn't catch up with us until the very end when we were boarding the bus.  How miserable.   I mean I got lost from the rest of the group but I was just fine as I had my daughter with me the whole time so it was near as bad.  We actually had a great time touring the the Christmas Markt and seeing some of the old as well as the newer part of the city.  We were even lucky enough to catch a portion of the Stollen festival where they bring out this huge Stollen (which is very similar to a fruit cake).  While we were in a "mall" in the newer portion of the city, we also were able to view an elementary school-aged group of children singing a song about the "Backerei" (the bakery).  Despite the crowds, it was a very fun day trip.
