Travel to Shimba Hills
Today was another day of traveling. After breakfast at the hotel, we drove into Mombasa city centre for a little bit of shopping. I had no idea it would look the way it did. I felt like I was in the middle east or something. I assumed that being a city centre meant that there would be some sort of order, nice shops and cafes, but I was so wrong. After picking up a couple of things we took the ferry across the water and drove a couple of hours to Diani where we ate lunch at a Swiss German restuarant. Then we went to an ocean-side resort for a little while to relax before we headed south to Shimba Hills which is where an orphanage is that our church supports. It is also where we will be attending a wedding of our friend Amy, who is from Virginia but it marrying a Kenyan. Apparently this place has tones of snakes (cobras, black and green mambas, etc) and I absolutely hate snakes. Fortunately for today, I didn’t see any of them!!
